Correspondence with Paula Dimmitt, (Michael's wife)
Michael and I had much in common in many ways. The one topic that did reoccur more than any other was the love and pride that we both felt for our sons and their military service, and hence my inspiration which tied this work together for Michael's dedication. During the time of 9/11 my son was a 4th class cadet at the United States Air Force Academy. I still vividly remember that morning of confusion when Harry Stone was bombarded by phone calls and parents wanting to pick up their children. It was a difficult time for us all and the Air Force Academy cutoff all communication concerning all the cadets later that day.The Terrazzo cam had always been comforting to me as I turned it on each morning briefly to see the beautiful mountains and the weather in Colorado Springs. That day it was shut down and I'll never forget the feeling and emptiness due to a total break in communications with my son.
