I still remember hearing Alexis performing this work as a young student over 30 years ago. His approach to Bach's music expressed a purity and spontaneity of expression that lives to this day in my memory.Bach's music shows a devotion to the unlimited as if he is striving to find a higher level to lift humanity. An understanding of a world unshackled by material existence and when the right pianist shares these highest of goals with an audience "time" becomes unimportant and beauty takes center stage.
